Beginners Embroidery Workshops

Learn the basic skills and stitches of this ancient craft so you can begin your own embroidery practice.

Embroidery has been around for centuries as a way for people to tell stories, make their mark, talk through secret languages, ward off evil spirits, embellish garments and create beautiful pieces of art.

Embroidery is a skill that has evolved over time and has been passed down generation upon generation.

Different cultures use different stitches and techniques to create designs.

I have been embroidering since I was 15. My nana first taught me some basic stitches and then I went on to learn my self how to master this craft.

I fell in love with the way I could draw with thread and make my mark on my own clothes. Stitching is a very meditative practice for me as it enables me to relax my mind and get lost in my creativity. I love how when you stitch you are capturing a moment in time that can be worn and used in so many different ways and then passed down generations to cherish.

Through my years of experience I have gathered my skills to teach you everything you need to know to begin your embroidery journey.

I offer a range of different embroidery workshops and courses which are tailored to you and what you want out of learning.

Here are some workshop options but if you have something else in mind please get in touch as I'd love to create a learning experience tailored for you.

Introduction to intuitive free-form embroidery

This workshop is a 1 class session where I teach you very basic stitches that you can use to create many different shapes and forms to stitch free-form with no pattern.

This style of stitching is slow stitching and is a great practice to create for yourself to wind down at the end of the day and just let your mind pour out through your needle and thread.

This method of embroidery is very abstract and free form and doesn't require a pattern or design to stitch. Its simply like doodling but with thread instead of a pen.

You can choose to start this embroidery practice on a piece of fabric, tote bag or scarf. Overtime the stitches will fill up the fabric and create a beautiful textile piece you can cherish forever. Each stitch marking that moment in time.
