About the event

This is a beginners friendly workshop.

Stitching has been a part of the human experience for thousands of years. It's been a way to record stories and history, for women to speak, to embellish clothing, lighten dark spaces, symbolise life, ward off evil spirits, protest, to express our souls and preserve moments in cloth. Embroidery is an art form that is passed down through human connection. My nana first taught me when I was a little girl and then I taught myself how to turn my pencil drawings into embroidery. The rythmic motions of stitching combined with the theraputic qualities of colour make embroidery a very relaxing and theraputic practice. Embroidery allows the mind to relax and wash the worries away as your external world disaapears whilst you focus on the design you are stitching. Once you pick up the needle you won't want to put it down, it is so addictive and saitisfying seeing threads form images before your eyes. I invite you to join me in this workshop and feel for yourself how magnificant embroidery is and how simple it can be to embroider your own clothing.
